Eric Biddines:"I'm from Planetcoffeebean & I Have Plans To Help Change The World"
Jan 2,2012 @ 11:16:AM
What’s good Eric? we appreciate the time taken off from Planet Coffee Bean to visit the site and talk to our readers .
Eric Biddines: No problem anything for the Team Krank fam! yall been with me from the start going back to the 2slabz days lol.
Please introduce yourself for the limited few who may not be aware.
Eric Biddines: I’m Eric Biddines pronounced (Bid-Dens) I'm from “planetcoffeebean” & I have plans to help change the world on heart beat at a time.
Before we continue please take the new comers through a tour of Planet Coffee Bean and what the Movement is about?
Eric Biddines: I hate to use the word movement but it’s pretty much the only way to describe it on the outside looking in. But personally for me it’s an alternative way of doing things. On earth there’s pretty much universal standards. You work, pay bills, breathe oxygen need water etc. On “planetcoffeebean” our way of living is un-orthodox or non-traditional in comparison to what a normal human believe. In a nut shell were embracing the outter box experience.
Now that’s out of the way what has Eric Biddines been up to since the last time you spoke to us?
Eric Biddines: I dont know how we’ve been able to do it but we managed to find our self in a situation were we got a chance to meet with 3 Labels through a very nice! source. I thank that person for that opportunity. I hate to name drop but we met with some people in Miami recently as well. Received our first contract offer. But on a day to day basis me & T-green (manager) speak 5 times after sunrise and before sun set for hours sometimes planning. Were very organized in our moves.
Since then you have made some very big accomplishments like dropping your highly anticipated Aye Story About Love EP As well as your Recent SouthernFla Mixtape. Please give us a brief description of both?
Eric Biddines: What some people may not know im a workaholic! I recorded “Ayestoryaboutlove” the same year I released “FLAlien:planetcoffeebean” Then I released ASAL the same year I recorded “Southern FLA” & we actually dropped 2 projects within 9 months. ASAL was just to put out a rare type of release it being a concept piece and all. And “Southern FLA” I believe is important to show were im going and get people back on track to knowing I can really spit. Sometimes my audience get too caught up in the melodic singing type of joints I do and get comfortable. This Artist to Fan engagement is like a relationship, you don’t really want to catch one another getting too comfortable.
One of your singles from the Aye Story About Love EP “MLWJC” (Maybe Later We can Just Chill) was getting live spin on daytime Radio. Do you remember where you were when you first heard it on the radio and your reaction?
Eric Biddines: I was sleep and a person text me I still dont know who they were because the number was unsaved and they said your on the radio! Then another unsaved text came through and it said turn on the radio I think I hear you. It was crazy! I felt like a hero or something because between me and my team we had to have about 100 texts and calls. I didnt even know at that moment DJ Menace was going to play it. Now I have a really great relationship with wmbx 102.3 they waiting on more material.
Who was the first person to call you and tell you they just heard your song on the Radio?
Eric Biddines: T-green was the first phone call I picked up. He’s also my biggest fan outside of my 3 yr old son Edan. But when T-green called it was a great feeling to share that experience with someone who work so hard with you and understand what were going through to complete these goals. So I was happy for him to be proud of me.
Moving on to your most recent released SouthernFla Mixtape which you have been working on for a while. Why did you choose that title for the Mixtape and the leading Single?
Eric Biddines: I’m a branding genius and I learned something from getting radio play. And that’s preparation and being ahead of your next move. We were going with a single to complete the year and a great opportunity came about were a clothing line wanted to sponsor a mixtape and pay for the production of it etc. I couldn't pass that up right? So although it seemed as if the tape was in works for a long time I actually had only like 4 months to write, record, mix and turn it in. I recorded 70% of it on my Mac in the bedroom and had Oscar mix it. I told T-green if we were going to do a project that wasn’t part of our timeline then were going to make it fit into our timeline. It made no sense at first to work on a mixtape while trying to release a single. But it made sense to dedicate a mixtape to a single we were beginning to work.
What was the thought process behind creating the SouthernFla Mixtape?
Eric Biddines: I tried not to think too much on the songs. I just wanted to not do too many female songs being we just came off of “ayestoryaboutlove”. My main focus was creative topics and production choice. I picked certain beats to help transition listeners new and old into my next project “planetcoffeebean 2” I have 5 songs recorded for that right now. It’s going to have a certain sound and it’s important that everyone understand and I believe some of the songs in “Southern FLA’s” mixtape help build that bridge to safely get you over to my next work without feeling lost or tricked into being there.
I think you’re leading single with the same titles as the Mixtape pretty much sums it all up it sounded like you had a lot of fun behind creating that record. Did you also produce it as well?
Eric Biddines: Yes I produced the single “Southern FLA” I made the beat about a year ago. When I let T-green hear the idea he went crazy and said That’s it!! I wasn’t sold at first so I went back in on it and switched the beat up entirely to help it be more Eric Biddines. That’s what made me really say okay this is gonna be weird lol.
In related news you and manger T-Green recently took a trip to the big apple for a couple of big meetings. Is it safe to say there maybe a few offers on your coffee table?
Eric Biddines: We didnt receive any physical offers. We met with Shady Records A&R “Riggs Morales”, Atlantic Records “Success” and Maybach Music’s “Geter K.” Geter K. was the most interested. Him and T-green been talking on the phone more recently and he got the “Southern FLA” music video on a few sights for us. All of them were amazed and hot not one bad thing to say. My biggest compliment was from Atlantic Records when Success told me he was an instant fan! We have contacts from them all. I have to be careful with things I do because im on label reps Radars. They all follow me on twitter.
Did you get anything out of the trip like for example the necessary next step to take towards the advancement of your Career as an Artist?
Eric Biddines: Yes I did. To be that close to them and see that what we built this far was more than ready! My personal assistant “Leslie Lay Lay The Greek Soufis” did an incredible job on my portfolio and placing key factors of my brand in it. I’m very picky and I didn’t have to tell her to change anything. It feels good to have members of your team understand you. Even better when industry professionals get it too. Right now I think it’s important for my career to keep building the fanbase and making the team stronger. Getting djs on this “Southern FLA” single. The deal or situation is right around the corner. It’s just a matter of what we have to offer when it come to the coffee table lol.
With that being said what can fans expect to hear from you in 2012?
Eric Biddines: Hopefully in 2012 I can drop “planetcoffeebean 2” I really want to put that out. I also completed a EP “The Frozen Lake” produced, recorded and mixed entirely by J-sharp. Like I said earlier we have contract offer on the table that our lawyer will be looking at after the holidays so im sure it’ll change the direction of 2012. At the least fans can expect to see me doing more shows. I got 12 shows already in the 1st two months of 2012 so yall come out to those and get free product. And look out for “Southern FLA” the single in clubs and the video is doing really well on youtube.
For new Fans, Artist, Labels and DJ’s How can they keep up with or contact you?
Eric Biddines: Yes! If your not a musical artist meaning producer, singer, rapper etc. but you have drive then email EricBiddinesPA@gmail.com were currently looking for individuals who have GRIND & would like to operate under the “planetcoffeebean” umbrella. I’ll be announcing a meeting soon.
