Qwote: I'm A Singer, A Songwriter And I am Haitian!
Oct 4,2011 @ 07:47:PM

Whats Good How’s everything on your end?

Qwote: Everything is great, working harder than ever on the singles "I want you and "throw your hands up" and new album compilation with Pitbull!

Let’s start from the beginning who is Qwote and where is he from?

Qwote: Qwote is a chance taker, a persistent motherfucker, I don't take no to easy when it comes to my career. I'm a singer songwriter and have been for a few years now and I am Haitian!

How did you end up with the stage name “Qwote”?

Qwote: I got it working in the barber shop when I was younger. I would quote anyone when needed. I kept the name and gave it a different meaning later on......it now means nothing but the truth. That's what u get from me..."The facts"!

How did you get into R&B music and when did you realize you wanted to do this for real?

Qwote: I started writing at the age of 12 but when I went all in is when I joined this four boy group in high school. We sang everywhere ...malls, family reunions,schools,parties....I mean everywhere. I knew I wanted this when I realized the power of my voice and the godly gift of writing!

Do you remember the first person you sung in front of and their reaction to what they just heard who was it and what did they say?

Qwote: I sang in front of this girl I had a crush on in middle school and she loved it so much that I had to sing to all her girlfriends at lunch just to keep her as a girlfriend....lol, I was a fool in love!

How would you describe the sound that you bring to the table in an already congested atmosphere?

Qwote: I find this question at times hard to answer because you’re right, it is congested. However I've be told I favor the likes of Michael and R Kelly. These are compliments and huge shoes to fit, so I just do me. My sounds mix in and out from pop,R&B to Caribbean and sometimes all at once. I try to keep my music in the clubs as much as possible but there are times you just gotta hit em with that baby making all night long music. I bring lots and lots of energy. And a big ass sense of humor along with it!

You have worked with many artists early in your career like Trina, Rick Ross, Danity Kane, Wayne Wonder and Shaggy what was the best advice that any of the names mentioned said or gave to you after working with you for the first time?

Qwote: Its funny, all of them have said this one thing...."stay humble". So that's what I try to do!

In addition to singing you also write your own material which now a day’s a lot of Artist lack do you feel you have an advantage in the game because of your writing skills?

Qwote: Absolutely, it’s a beautiful thing to write and arrange your music. It actually comes out better for me. I love to write! I can twist and turn it just the way I want it to present it on that platter for my listeners!

If you had to explain your style of music in 3 words what would they be and why?

Qwote: Energy, sweat, and deep! Because like I said I love to stay in the club with my music and when I slow down prepare to go half on a baby!

Let’s talk about your single” I want you “feat MMG Head Bawse in charge Rick Ross, How did that collaboration come about and take us through the creation of the track from writing to final production of it?

Qwote: First off rest in peace Michael Jackson. The music was produced by my homie Cash hits. Once the record was sent over to me I fell in love with it right away. Ross came into the picture when I realized it needed that boss presence. I know he's really good with those slow tracks so it was a no brainer. I wanted to make a record that spoke straight to the ladies in the most sexiest way possible of how I wanted to be with her tonight. And there you u go the birth of " I want you". I love this record. I think it’s a classic!

Listen Here Qwote Feat Rick Ross - I want You

Did you expect to get this major Response from this track when creating it?

Qwote: honestly after the record was done I knew it was a big record

What do you think your fans like the most about that song?

Qwote: From the comments I read and I do read them it looks like they love my voice and also the line where I say “I need your loving tonight”!

For those who don’t know you were born in Haiti and recently the recipient of the Haitian Community Distinction Award in receiving the "Haitian Arts Industry Award". What did that mean to u you?

Qwote: That meant so much. It made me realize my people are watching me and trust me to represent them. I'm so honored to have received that award. Truly humbled! Long live Haiti!

Do you remember where you were when you’re first heard about the tragic and catastrophic earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010?

Qwote:  I was lying in the studio

What was your first reaction did you call someone or did it just have to sink in first?

Qwote:  I cried. It was so sad man! I did make calls because I have a sister over there. And many of my friends had/have family and friend over there too. The thing with Haitians is we pain together!

KIM: Where and how can fans of your music connect or keep up with you?

Qwote: Check out my website. www.qwote.net. Also follow me on twitter @qwote and follow me on facebook.com/qwoteslipandnslide

What can fans expect from you next any upcoming mixtapes or Albums?

Qwote: look out for the new mixtape coming out on 11-11-11 called "love her lips" real sweaty mixtape..lol

KIM: Anything else you want to share with us?

Qwote: Thank you for listening and following me. I love ya

KIM: Any Shout-outs

Qwote: Shout out to my fans and supporters.
