KIM: What’s good, We would like to welcome and thank you for taking the time out to chat with KRANK IT UP MAGAZINE and our readers for a bit…
Ad: Thanks for having me, I'm definitely a fan of Krank It Up!
KIM: Go ahead and introduce yourself and tell us what you do case they haven’t heard?
Ad: My name is AdELA, I'm a singer out of South Florida. Originally born in South Africa.
KIM: How did you get started as a singer was this something you always wanted to do?
Ad: As far back as I can remember, I have been singing or using music as a creative outlet. There is nothing else I can see myself doing.
KIM: Who would you say was the first to notice your amazing talent and hear your vocals and said Damn u got it, when and where were you?
Ad: The first person who heard my music and really felt it was STREETRUNNER. We met early in the game and have been working together ever since. Its always great to have a Grammy Award winning producer on deck!
K.I.M: Aside from being a Singer/Rapper/Writer what are some of your other talents that some may not know of already?
Ad: I have a bachelors degree in Biology. School was always important to me so I made sure to get my education. I do a lot of volunteer work and my best talent is dealing with people. I have friends and deal with people from all walks of life. Its so important to be able to do that, especially in music, when networking is a must!
KIM: What would you say is your biggest accomplishment as a Artist so far?
Ad: My biggest accomplishment so far is getting my name and my music out, without a label or a machine behind me. There's days when I get on the phone and call a hundred people! I make this my job... But recently I did get into Hip Hop weekly, so it was great walking into the corner store, picking up the magazine and seeing myself in there for my music!
K.I.M: You have opened up for many big name Artist like LL Cool J, Fat Joe, Chingy, Pitbull and Trick Daddy just to name a few. Did you ever get a chance to me with any of these artist backstage and get any comments, praise or advice after a performance?
Ad: I met with all of them, and they are all so encouraging. Music is a tough game, and only the strong survive! So to meet accomplished artists and hear some of their stories is great for me since I'm on my way.
K.I.M: If you could describe your music in 3 words what would they be and why?
Ad: LIKE NOTHING ELSE! but seriously I think my music is original, emotional and young. STREETRUNNER and I have developed our own sound over the years. We don’t place any restrictions on what we do and we are very honest with our music. I like a beat, my writers and pen a song, record it and that’s it. We don’t try to sound like anyone else. He is a beast with the music so everything sounds HUGE and I come in and add a fresh sound to it. It’s emotional because every song I have is based on a personal experience so I sing what I feel. I never try to overdo it. I just say what’s on my mind.
K.I.M: Let’s talk about you’re “Just Feel it” single which is blazing the streets as we speak. Take us behind the scenes of the creation of this track and how it came about?
Ad: We needed a club banger so STREET went into the studio and created this robotic monster of a beat. Casely, a singer/songwriter out of Miami wrote the track, I layed the vocals, then STREET and I took it to Lil Wayne. He pretty much stopped his session to hear it and the entire time bounced to it. When it was done he said "this is stuuuupid!"... The rest was history. People love the record and I’m fortunate for that. I made 120 mixtapes with that record, and it’s gotten radio play in 8 cities so far... Its building and it’s only to the top from here! (Listen Here AdelA feat Lil Wayne Just Feel it)
K.I.M: When can we expect the Album to Drop?
Ad: I want to see JUST FEEL IT all the way through before an album drops. We are currently working on it, but taking our time because we want it to be just right.
K.I.M: Is there any Artist that you haven’t worked with yet in Florida as a whole that you would like work with in the near Future?
Ad: In general I'd love to work with NAS, he's my idol and in my mind the greatest rapper alive! He would be the ultimate for me!
KIM: What else can fans expect from AdELA in the near future?
Ad: They can expect to hear JUST FEEL IT a whole lot more and look out for new music... My fans are so important to me because they make music a beautiful thing. I always say, I don’t make music just for me. I do it for my fans! I'm so lucky to have so many people supporting me and my career.
